When dry it is a perfect stable base for adding decoration. It is traditional to cover your fruit cake firstly with Marzipan a.k.a. almond paste, before covering it with sugar paste, fondant icing or royal icing. Modelling paste is a pliable firm medium which holds its shape when made into models for Christmas decorations.
