As a general rule you would usually have a cake drum two sizes larger than your cake, i.e, 8" cake would be placed on a 10" cake drum.
However, if you have a lot of decorations around the side of your cake, or you are placing some decoration on the cake drum you may need a drum three or even four sizes larger.
These cake boxes are 6" high so if you intend your finished decorated cake to be taller you may need some corner extensions, these are placed, as suggested, into the corners of your assembled box and lift the lid height to 12", these are available to purchase from this site.
