Just to confuse you, hexagonal cakes are measured point to point, therefore you will need a board (measured flat-to-flat) 2" smaller to stack the cake or a board the same size for roughly 1"-2" either side (providing cake is centered.)

You will also need a box 2"-3" bigger than the board which your cake is on.
