Cake hardboards, sometimes just refered to as boards are hygienic foil covered boards approximately 3mm thick.
They can be used just like the thicker drum boards or they are ideal for stacked cake tiers as they can be easily covered. Place your cake on a hardboard the same shape and size and cover the cake and hardboard together. The hardboard acts as a firm base for dowels or pillars but is completely hidden.
They're perfect for sponge cakes and also ideal for fruit cakes up to about 12". For larger or heavier cakes we recommend you use the tougher drum boards.
